Scotts Mills – Eleanor Miller passed away peacefully January 14, 2013, with loving family at her side.
Born to Stephen and Adela (Klimovich) Zalenski in Forrest City, Pennsylvania, Eleanor was 5 of 6 children. She moved to Silverton in 1970, where she and her husband, Richards, continued to raise their 3 children. In the course of Eleanor’s life she worked as a waitress, elevator operator, at a cosmetics counter, but her most important role was Mother. She was selflessly devoted to her children, always seeking the success of each child above her own. She was nurturing, generous and loved to crochet. She gave away 100’s of hats and scarves to cancer patients and each child and grandchild was known to have an Eleanor Afghan.
Eleanor was scrappy, always speaking her mind, was kind and loving, and loved her family and those she kept close. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is preceded in death by, her husband, Richards, who died January 9, 2010.
Eleanor is survived by children: Holly (Gary) Hower, Camas, WA, Kevin Miller, Scotts Mills and Matthew (Merylee) Miller, Scotts Mills; grandchildren: Dean McNabb, Conagher Miller, Hirum Miller, Natasha Miller, Sarah Miller, & Grace Miller; great-grandchildren: Garrett McNabb and Bryce McNabb; sister, Sophie (John) Mager, Ohio.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at Willamette National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until 12 P.M. at Unger Funeral Chapel of Silverton, with procession to follow to Portland where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Arrangements by Unger's.
