KEIZER - Donald J. Holt, 73, passed away Tuesday, October 3rd, in Salem, Oregon. He was born in Mt. Angel and grew up in the local area. Don entered the Navy in 1951 and served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Navy and moved to Keizer in 1970 where he worked as an auto-body repairman for a few years, then entered service with the State of Oregon as a Corrections Officer, retiring in 1995. Don was an avid outdoorsman and loving Grandfather. He loved to camp, hunt, and fish, especially when he could do so with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois L. Holt, of Keizer; his children and their spouses, Rob and Carla Holt of North Pole, Ala.; Jim and Renee Holt of Keizer, and Port Angeles, Wash.; Diane and Mark Hughes of Salem; grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Sarah Anne, Sarah Marie, Jason, Tessa, Elizabeth, Elijah, and Josh; and great-grand-daughter Rilynn. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Roy and Marge Holt of Keizer, Buzz and Kathy Holt of Woodburn, Pete and MaryBeth Holt of Mt. Angel, and Marge Withers of Castle Rock, Wash; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. His father and mother, Les and Mary Holt, preceded Don in death. There will be a visitation from 12 to 5 p.m., Thursday, October 5, at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton, Ore. Graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Angel, at 2 p.m., Friday, October 6. The service will be casual attire. Please wear Don's favorite clothes - Jeans.
