Edward Alan Haslebacher (Alan), was born on May 22, 1930, to Edward and Mabel Haslebacher. Their only child, Alan grew up on the family farm on Howell Prairie. Graduating from Salem High School, Alan joined the Navy and served in the Seabees Reserve where his skills working with heavy equipment were put to good use. Returning from his service he married the girl next door (literally), Patricia Ann Hynes. They lived on the family farm raising three children and creating wonderful memories over the course of their 70 years of marriage.

Alan passed away peacefully at his home on August 8th, 2021, surrounded by his loving family and caregivers. He is survived by his wife Patty, daughter Jill Rogers of Stayton, sons Craig Haslebacher (wife Michelle) of Kennewick, WA and Kevin Haslebacher (wife Karen) of Colfax, CA. He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Mabel, son in law Gary Rogers, and granddaughter Heather Edwards.

Alan lived a wonderful life, farming over 500 acres in the Central Howell and Gervais areas as a respected grower for several major food brands. He was a member of the Salem and Keizer Elks Lodges where he served two terms and Exalted Ruler and District Deputy. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love of hunting and fishing and all the stories that one could tell about those journeys. In his retirement years he turned his agricultural skills to growing prize-winning dahlias and a bountiful garden of vegetables. Alan and his wife Patty enjoyed many international journeys to Europe and Fiji as well as cruises to Hawaii, Alaska, South America and through the Panama Canal. They traveled the western US with their RV and stayed several winters in Arizona and summers on the Oregon Coast, making many cherished friendships.

So much more could be said about Alan's life, but most important was that he was a good man, an honest man, a hard worker and a loving husband, father and friend to so many. His sarcastic humor, wit and tender touch will be greatly missed by all.

A service and celebration of Alan's life will be at 10:30 on August 14 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Silverton, with internment at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery.
