Arlene was born in Stuart Nebraska on August 27, 1929. She was the oldest of four siblings who proceeded her in death. At the age of 15, her mother passed, and Arlene became the mother figure to not only her 3 siblings (Louise, Lorraine and Ivan). But many generations to follow. She always had an open heart to any child she encountered.

She moved to Oregon at the age of 17, and met her spouse of 62 years in March of 1949 (LaVern "Bergie" Bergerson) in Fish's Bakery on Water Street. Bergie use to take his little sister there for doughnuts just so he could see Arlene. Her time in the bakery led to a passion for baking of cakes, wedding, anniversary, or any special occasion.

Arlene and her husband waited to get married until January of 1950 so they could celebrate their 50 th anniversary in the year 2000. Together, they built their lifelong home in 1953. This was were Arlene stayed until she passed.

Arlene worked at the Birds Eye cannery (General Foods) in Woodburn and retired after 34 years as a quality control supervisor.

Together they had two children. Richard "Rick" Bergerson, wife Lorraine. Sheila "Shelly" Aljets, husband Joe. Arlene lived on to see five full generations in her family with a total of 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons.

Graveside services will be Sat Nov 10th at 3 o'clock at Valley View Cemetery. Gathering to follow at their favorite place, Chan's in Silverton.
