Audrey Marie
Buchholz
Sep 27, 1964 — Feb 22, 2021
Silverton
Audrey Marie Buchholz, 56, passed away on February 22, 2021 from cancer.
Audrey was born September 27th, 1964 at Silverton Hospital. She was born to Gail Ann Buchholz, a nurse, and Ken Thomas Buchholz, a farmer. She was named after a nurse at her delivery. She grew up on a farm in Mt. Angel with her parents and 4 siblings: Donald, Monica, Tom and Ruth. She began grade school at Monitor Elementary at the age of 5. Audrey enjoyed school and had fond memories of her teachers she had while attending. On the farm she enjoyed helping in the house and looking after her youngest sister, taking on that mom role that she later transitioned into so easily. She graduated from Silverton High School in 1982.
Shortly after graduating, Audrey married her high school sweetheart. She became a homemaker to 3 children. They started their family and settled initially in Mill City. As many young couples do, they had to utilize their resources as best they could to make their house into a home. Audrey used rebating and couponing to help save money and purchase fun items for the family. She became very good at it and carried this practice on for many years. She continued to have an amazing way with numbers and found a challenge in seeing how much she could purchase for the least amount of money, ending up with items like a pool table for a stack of cigarette cartons she had traded from the neighbor.
She helped to make their house one that welcomed others from the neighborhood. She doted on her children and husband as best she could, showing her love through many things like; spaghetti sandwich lunches, helping with homework, and taking adventure walks throughout the neighborhood. As the children grew older, the family moved to the Victor Point area where she worked again to organize and decorate their new home. She reached out to others in the community to build relationships and volunteered as much as she could at the kids' school. If her children were worried their friends would not remember their birthdays, she had that covered. She always made a big display with flowers, balloons, and pictures to show that the day was a very important one.
In 2002 Audrey's son, Ryan, died. This was an overwhelmingly sad time. She later divorced, and was able to find a new relationship and start again in a different way. Together, the two of them did a lot of traveling to places like Germany and throughout the states. They later chose long car rides within Oregon, searching for wildlife, counting deer, birds, and other animals throughout the drive. She also continued to get to know people wherever she went, be it the cashier at the grocery store or the bus driver. Finding the perfect gift for her grandkids, searching for old coins, playing Yahtzee, as well as trying her luck at scratch offs, were also high on her list of interests.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ken Buchholz; mother, Gail Griesenauer; and son, Ryan Fennimore.
She is survived by; her beloved friend, Phillip Conner Jr., daughters; Megan Kuiper & Heather Fennimore; 4 grandchildren; and siblings; Donald Buchholz, Monica Bochsler, Thomas Buchholz, and Ruth Volbeda
