Obituary

Barbara D. Harrell, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 30th, 2022. She passed away peacefully and was surrounded by her loving family. She lived in Salem, Oregon with her daughter. Her life began on July 25, 1937 in Goodland, Kansas. She was born at home to her parents Clinton Charles Miller and Alma Eva Miller. She was one of 5 children and their only daughter. She grew up in Goodland, Kansas and lived on a farm with her parents and siblings.

Barbara attended school at Brownville school in Kansas, through the 8th grade, and then took care of her younger siblings, while her parents worked. She later obtained her GED from Chemeketa Community College in her late 40's.

When she was 15 years old, she met and married Clarence Leon Harrell on August 11th, 1952, in Albany OR. After marriage, they traveled to different states working various jobs. They moved to Silverton Oregon where they raised their 7 children. Barbara worked as a Nurses Aid in various nursing homes in Silverton Oregon for many years. She also was a homemaker and focused on raising her children.

After she retired, Barbara volunteered every Sunday at local nursing homes, and also worked as a hospice worker for over 15 years. She spent many years involved in her grandchildren and great grandchildren's lives, enjoying their accomplishments and activities.

Barbara came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 40. She later told her family and friends that she never looked back. She faithfully attended and was an active member of Creekside Church (The Church of God of Prophecy) in Salem, Oregon. She never wanted to miss an opportunity to attend a church service. She shared the good news of God and Christ's love to everyone she could. She was a prayer warrior and she prayed for her family and friends because they were always in her thoughts. She made a huge impact on countless lives.

She enjoyed reading her Bible or any spiritual literature, keeping up with the news and watching older generational shows, and spending time with her friends and family at local restaurants. She delighted in seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was her greatest joy.

She is proceeded in death by: Her parents Clinton and Alma Miller, her brothers Leroy Miller, Gary Miller, Donald Miller and Lonnie Miller, her husband Clarence L. Harrell, her sons Roy E. Harrell, Steven T. Harrell, Baxter L. Harrell (Rocky) and her daughter Sherry Y. Pilcher.

Barbara was a very caring, compassionate, loving person, who dedicated herself to serving God and others. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her.

She will be greatly missed and never forgotten, but we are encouraged that she is in heaven with her loving Savior Jesus Christ.
