Betty Jane "Bess" Dietrich
Sublimity – Betty Jane "Bess" Knobloch Dietrich, 89, passed away of natural causes on August 22, 2021.
She was born south of Lester, Iowa on June 29, 1932 to Jacob and Lydia Traub Knobloch. Fondly known as 'Bess' by all who knew her, she attended school at Lyon County Logan #6, and on February 21, 1951, she was baptized at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA.
Bess always kept busy helping family members in times of need. She took care of her invalid mother until her death, she often helped out when her nieces or nephews were born, and she came to the aid of her brother Edwin's family during his battle with cancer. She worked for years in Sioux Falls, SD at various jobs, primarily doing bookkeeping for cattle buyers at the Sioux Falls Stockyards.
Bess married widower Clarence Dietrich on October 29, 1989, and moved to Silverton, Oregon. She became the grandmother of 14, and – in due time – the great-grandmother of 61. Bess' husband, Clarence, passed away on June 10, 2017 after nearly 27 years of marriage.
Surviving are siblings, Dale (Mary) Knobloch, and one sister, Dena (Calvin) Weiss; step-children James (Joan) Dietrich, Dorothy Dietrich, Richard Strahm and Carol (Greg) Wackerle; numerous nephews, nieces, and the many grand- and great-grandchildren. Bess was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters Matilda (Elmer) Fehr, Eunice Knobloch, Gladys Knobloch, and Ella Mae (Eugene) Schmidt; brothers, Nathan (Irene) Knobloch, Edwin (Elgeva) Knobloch, Arthur (Elgeva) Knobloch, and Orvie (Lauretta) Knobloch; August Dietrich, and Kathryn Strahm.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10 am at the Apostolic Christian Faith in Aumsville, Oregon. Graveside service following service at Bethany Pioneer Cemetery in Silverton, Oregon.
