Obituary

Carol Ann Ilg was born on May 29, 1941 in Salem, Oregon to Clarence and Hildegard Goffin. She grew up in Aumsville, Oregon, then completed her high school education at Mt. Angel Academy boarding school. After high school she attended Phagan's Beauty College, then met her husband of 58 years. When they married on July 6th, 1963, they bought a beautiful piece of property outside of Woodburn where they raised two daughters and remained there ever since.
As the girls grew older, Carol began a new career with the Monitor School District as a bus driver, where she also later served as a teacher's aide throughout the school day. Carol was adored by her co-workers as well as the students she served. She found great joy in working with the children and was greatly missed when she decided it was time to retire. Upon her retirement, the Monitor School staff greatly missed her black forest cake each year for Valentine's Day. Carol also found time to support the Monitor Fire Department by organizing the Monitor Women's Auxiliary, a non-profit group of community wives that supported the department in many ways, including taking refreshments to the fire fighters during long service calls amidst the heat of the summer or the chilly nights of the winter.
Carol touched so many lives throughout her journey in life and those that knew her knew of her deep love and commitment to Christ. Though she will be greatly missed by so many family and friends, we also rejoice that she is now home with the Lord.
Carol is survived by her husband, Leo Ilg, two daughters Karen (Larry) Purdy and Karla (Gordon) Willmschen, two grandchildren Tanner Willmschen and Hannah Purdy, along with her brother Daniel (Rose Marie) Goffin, all of Aumsville and sister Vivian (Lyle) Ang of Mill City.
Services will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Angel, Oregon. Committal services immediately following at Calvary Cemetery.
Contributions in her honor can be made to the Monitor Fire Department or the local Oregon Food Bank
