Carol R. Pattee

March 3, 1942 - February 8, 2021

Silverton - Carol Ruth Pattee, age 78, of Silverton, Oregon, passed away peacefully at her home on February 8, 2021, surrounded by family. She was diagnosed with Cancer, COPD and Congestive Heart Failure years ago and had fought a valiant fight.

Carol was born on a blizzard filled day, March 3, 1942 in Southern Alberta, Canada to Oscar and Doris Strand. The conditions were so severe that her Dad pulled off the road at a grain elevator and waited for the storm to subside before going on. Even the doctor did not want to venture out in the storm to assist with the delivery. Needless to say God had His Hand on her then and has continued to be faithful to her every day of her life.

At age 2, Carol and family moved to Silverton, Oregon. Carol attended Brush Creek Grade School and Silverton High School. Growing up her Mom and Dad took the family to Sunday School and church regularly. Her Mom was her Sunday School teacher. In her early years of school, Carol was very involved with 4H and raising Jersey cows. She was very active in the Oregon Jersey Cattle Association. She was also selected as a Marion County Dairy Princess. Carol attended college at LBI in Issaquah, WA and PLU in Portland, Oregon and Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. Carol taught school in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. She worked as an extension agent while in Minnesota for 3 years. Carol moved back to Oregon and one of her roommates, Verna, introduced Carol to her brother Chuck. They began dating and married on June 1, 1974. The blended family lived in Eugene, Oregon. In 1978 the family moved to Silverton, Oregon. Carol became a part of the Salem Women's Aglow, and was very involved with Women's Aglow for over 33 years, serving on the board of directors. Carol was always very involved with her local church, teaching Sunday School for years and helping care for the needs of the people in the community  and her church family that she came to love, while also caring for her family at home. Carol also taught 4H, Home Economics and was a substitute teacher in the Silverton School District for many years in the Silverton area.

Chuck and Carol went on many road trips to the Women's Aglow Conferences across America. They also went on a Mission trip to Mexico. She enjoyed traveling, but most of all loved her Lord and family. Carol was a strong Christian and a prayer warrior. She was known to strike up a conversation with a total stranger, and within a few minutes be sharing the Word of God with them and witnessing to them. They would part as friends. She is now at home in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Charles G. Pattee of Silverton, Oregon; sons Tom of Springfield, Oregon and Nathan (Kathy) of Keizer, Oregon; daughters Mary (Jim) of Gresham, Oregon, Eva (Steve) of Bend, Oregon, and Kristin (Stephen) of Portland, Oregon. She had 5 grandchildren, Rahne (Nathan), Kelsee, Kylee, Atlas and Scarlett. She had 1 great grandson, Sage. She is also survived by her brothers David Strand (Darlene, deceased) of Silverton, Oregon and Walter Strand (Delilah) of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada; sister Bee Lay (Herb) of Silverton, Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Doris Strand, and sister in law Darlene Strand.

Home at last! Sitting at the feet of Jesus my Lord and praising His Name. It doesn't get any better than this!

Visitation will be Friday February 19th 4-8 pm at Unger Funeral Chapel - Silverton. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery, Silverton, on Saturday February 20th at 12:30 pm, open to family and friends. Memorial Service will be Saturday February 20th at 2 pm at Silver Creek Fellowship Church, by invitation. Live stream of service will be available at www.SCF.TV.
