Carolyn Hazel Wymore was born in Medford, Oregon, on May 15th, 1928, to Lucille and Cass Wymore. The family, which included her sister, Lucile (11 years older), moved to Portland, then to Cave Junction in the late 1930's, where they ran a camp, Shona Wauna. Carol loved the pine woods, climbing trees, and swimming in the river. When her dad went off to serve in the Navy in WWII, Carol and the family moved to Garibaldi. This began a life-long love for the ocean, and when she had her own family, there were many trips to the beach. After the war, Carol's family moved to Hillsboro, where she finished high school, then went on to Mt Angel College for two years, earning her AA degree. During this time she was also a "candy striper" (volunteer) at a hospital in Salem.

At a dance in Mt Angel, she met Leonard Obersinner, the son of a local farmer whom she married on September 30, 1950. They moved to Leonard's farm outside of Mt Angel after their wedding. Being the mother of nine children and the wife of a farmer, she became very adept at utilizing farm grown foods and reusing resources. Relatives came together for butchering and preserving, and picnics were held to celebrate harvests.

The church was always very important to Carol....with mass, the sacraments, and religious holidays forming a core part of her life and that of her family. She also loved reading, art, history, and languages, attending Spanish class for several years. She shared a love for travel with Leonard, and in their Winnebago, they traveled to nearly every state in the Union, and also went to Mexico with friends in an RV convoy. International trips included China, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Italy, and Israel, though Hawaii, surrounded by ocean, was always her favorite place in the world.

Carol and Leonard lived on the farm until 2013, when they moved to Mt Angel, to the Orchard House. When Leonard passed away in December 2014, Carol more actively joined the community, participating in many different activities--movies, games, and church functions. She remained a very active and social resident of Orchard House, always giving a welcoming smile to those who approached her, up until the time of her passing, on March 10th, 2021. Carol is survived by her children Stephen, Kathy, Therese, Paul, and Gene.
