Our loving mother, Christine Nelson, recently passed away due to a sudden massive hemorrhagic stroke. Christine was a very active, young and energetic 74-year-old and was surrounded by her closest family members when she was called to heaven.

Christine or "Chris" as her close friends and family knew her, was the youngest of two children born to Frank & Norma Kirigin in 1948 in Oregon. She was very family-oriented and had a close bond with her mother. Chris was a spirited, artistic, fun, outgoing young woman and recorded much of her life in her diaries. She attended Franklin High School, graduating in 1966.  A few years after a very short-term marriage at 18, Chris met Blaine Nelson while playing pool with girlfriends at the Turquoise Room. Blaine became her husband of 51 years, and they had two children Jillian and Trisha both of whom have their own growing families.

Christine became a Christian shortly before her second child was born and attended Portland Four Square alongside her family members. After becoming a patient at Day Chiropractic, she was offered the opportunity to get her certification and become an X-Ray technician and worked there for many years.

After the death of both her own dear parents and years of experience with assisted living facilities, Chris became deeply passionate about serving others that needed the same care. This ultimately led her to starting her own business finding residence for the elderly. A loyal servant to God, Chris spent many of her hours dedicating her life to both fighting for the rights of the unborn, and to the care and placement of our elder community. She had a delicate heart and loved both people and animals alike. Now that Chris has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of her physical life on Earth it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.

Christine joins her mother and father in Heaven with open arms. She is survived by many loving family members including her husband Blaine Nelson, daughters Trisha & Jill, four grandchildren, and her sister Marilyn. Our mother, our Nana, will be eternally missed.
