His wife of 67 years, Doris, twin brother Raymond, and sister Ruth Nemeyer preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughters Robin Fewell of Silverton, Oregon, and Jacquelyn Moseley (Denny) of Oregon City, Oregon, granddaughters Jacquelyn Finley (Scott) of Baytown, Texas, and Erin Moseley of Taylorsville, Utah, great grandchildren Devin Finley and Falynn Cochran (Kody) both of Baytown, Texas, and two great great grandsons Cayden and Colton, and many loving nieces and nephews.

He had fond memories of his early childhood living near Silverton and Mt. Angel.  He  often reminisced about working on family farms, strawberry picking, camping, fishing, hiking, skiing, swimming, and school sports (wrestling, football, baseball).  After he and his brother won a model airplane distance contest, the prize was a ride in a small airplane.  After that ride he dreamed of becoming a pilot.  He attended school in Silverton and graduated Silverton High School in 1942 then attended the University of Oregon.  He joined the Army Air Force through the Aviation Cadet Program and spent time flying in the European and China-Burma-India theaters of operation during World War II.  He met Doris Fairall during WWII in Washington, D.C., and they married in March of 1945.  After the war, they moved to Tillamook, Oregon, where he worked for his Dad and that is where their daughters were born.  After a short time he returned to active military service and went on to serve a total of 33 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a colonel in 1976.  He served in Saudi Arabia, Texas, Nevada, California, Germany,  Florida, Vietnam, Washington, DC, and Turkey.  Most of his Air Force career was spent in Air Rescue.  After retirement he moved back to his beloved Silverton.  He enjoyed vegetable gardening, going on road trips, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and watching anything sports related on TV especially the Ducks.  He loved meeting with the "guys"  for morning coffee or wine in the evenings.

He was a very humble man who never spoke or bragged about the many medals he was awarded - among them the Bronze Star and  Distinguished Flying Cross.  He just said  "It was my duty."  He was a leader and a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was always there to help, guide, and encourage family and friends.
