Donald L. Reinhart, 90, passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2024 with his loving wife of 68 years by his side.

He was born April 17, 1933, in Silverton, Oregon, one of 5 children, to John and Grace (Alexander) Reinhart. Don took over the responsibility of the family farm as a teen after his father was injured in a logging accident.

He graduated from Silverton High School in 1951. During high school, he served as the Silverton FFA Chapter president and attended the FFA National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri.

He married Norma (Pflaum) on September 17, 1955, and they honeymooned at Disneyland as some of the first visitors to the park.

Don started working in the late 1950s as a logger/timber faller in the Pacific Northwest Timber industry until 1974 while continuing to run the family farm.

Don started a small Christmas Tree farm in 1968. In the early 1970s, the Reinhart Tree Farm opened a u-cut Christmas Tree operation, growing into a large wholesale supplier. Reinhart Tree Farm was awarded Best of the Mid Valley Gold Medal for Best Place to Get a Christmas Tree in 2010 and 2011.

Don was active in community organizations representing his interests in farming. He served on the Silver Crest School Board, was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and helped rebuild after a fire destroyed the original church structure in 1975.

Don is survived by his wife, Norma, daughter Twila (Virgil) Anderson of Salem, Oregon, son Scott (Jean) of Brooks, Oregon, son Chris (Erin) of Seattle, Washington, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by sisters Barbara Hupp of Silverton, Oregon and Cathy Lauer of Portland, Oregon.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles (Chuck), and twin sister Dorothy (Hicks).

Don will be missed for his insightful brevity.

There will be no formal service. The family will host an open house in the spring, date to be decided.

Don was a lifelong farmer—from strawberries to Christmas trees and grass seed. In remembrance of Don, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Friends of Silverton FFA Alumni, Scholarship Fund in Memory of Don Reinhart, 7365 Meridian Road, Silverton, OR 97381.
