Obituary

Dorothy Marie Fish, 92, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at Salem Hospital on March 12, 2024, in Salem, Oregon.

Dorothy was born on July 31, 1931 in Silverton, Oregon, to parents Emidio and Bertha DeSantis. She graduated from Mt. Angel Preparatory School (now John F. Kennedy High School) and retired from the United States Postal Service after working many years as a rural letter carrier. She was active in the Catholic Church throughout her life. Dorothy is survived by her children, Laura (Randy Egan), Randy (Jane), Kenneth (Kathy); her daughter-in-law Maureen; her ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd, and her sons, Roger, and Wayne.

She and Boyd were married for 71 years, and they explored the world together, visiting over twenty countries and also touring the United States in their motor home. They split their time during retirement between Casa Grande, Arizona and Silverton, Oregon. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, participating in church activities, and playing bridge with friends. She was a strong willed Christian and set an example for being respectful and kind to all people.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 th at St. Paul Catholic Church,1410 Pine Street, Silverton (immediately preceded by a rosary service at 1:00 p.m.); committal service will follow at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Silverton, and a celebration of life will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Silverton Elks Lodge. All are welcome to attend. The family wishes to support the Silverton Elks Lodge Scholarship Program and donations can be sent to Elks Lodge #2210, 300 High Street, Silverton, Oregon 97381.
