Obituary

Elmer Gilbert Haury was born on May 2,1935, at his parents' farm outside Salem, Oregon. Like his father, Elmer farmed–in the earlier years mostly berries and in the later years filberts.

In 1959, he met and married Artie Blanche Hauptman who was a great companion in both farming and recreational activities. Mom and Dad loved fishing the most, but also hunted, and traveled locally and abroad. Dad filled many albums with photos of desert flowers and other magnificent scenery. His eyes were so keen that he could spot an1800s dime from atop his tractor while out working. He also enjoyed woodworking and rock collecting, and in his later years liked to keep an eye on the farm and timber while riding in his gator, "Grandpa's Toy."

Elmer had four children, fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and another on the way. He was quiet and hardworking with a quick humor and a sly smile. He is preceded in death by his wife Artie, grandson Garrett, sister Jo, and brother Daryle and is survived by children Mark (Kim), Sandra (Cy), Anita (Rex) and Tracy (Scott), sister Adeline, and brother Dan.

Graveside service will be at 11am, Monday, March 13, 2023, at Pratum Cemetery with a reception to follow at Emmanuel Bible Church, 8512 Sunnyview Rd NE, Salem, OR 97305
