Georgia Lynn "Jody" Hoerauf, 80, of Salem, Oregon, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Georgia will be fondly remembered for her kindness, resilience, and the deep love she held for her family and home.

Born on September 11, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Georgia was the daughter of Patricia Toone and Lynn Thomas and grew up surrounded by the warmth of her close-knit family. In 1954, her family relocated to a farm outside Mt. Angel, Oregon, where Georgia spent much of her teen years riding and caring for her horses —a joy that would remain with her throughout her life. She graduated from Silverton Union High School in 1964. During her first marriage, Georgia dedicated herself fully to raising her two sons, Brian and Michael Woodley, instilling in them a strong sense of duty and compassion that later guided their successful careers in the military and public service.

In the 1980s, Georgia's creativity and industrious spirit shone through as she founded and operated Jody's Satin Embroidery from her home. Her detailed, handcrafted name patches for letterman jackets became well-known among local schools, each one unique and meticulously made. She also spent time designing beautiful, one-of-a-kind painted and glazed ceramic pieces in her home studio. She was an avid bowler who celebrated an occasional 300 game. On December 29, 1992, Georgia married George Hoerauf and together, they built a life of shared adventures and quiet joys, traveling extensively across the United States after Georgia's retirement in 2006 from the Oregon State Penitentiary, where she served for 17 years as a dedicated Corrections Sergeant. Her colleagues remember her as fair-minded and principled—someone who respected both the rule of law and the individuals entrusted to her care. Outside of work, Georgia found peace in nature. She loved birdwatching, fishing, and cheering on her favorite football teams, always happiest when surrounded by family or the outdoors she so cherished. Georgia is survived by her beloved husband, George; sons Brian and Michael Woodley; sisters Mary Ann Zak, Barbara Zak, and Mitzie Wilson; brother Paul Anderson; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Toone, father Lynn Thomas and brother, Carl Anderson.
