Obituary

Germano Vejanze Abbott-Cavota, 77, succumbed to heart failure on September 28 2020 at his home in Salem, Oregon.

He was born September 5, 1943 in Nome Alaska to Theresa Marie Cavota (nee Luke) and Theodore Fredrick Cavota.

Germano went through Army basic training in the Vietnam War Era but, was not sent because he was his family's only surviving son. When he completed his term of service, he joined the National Guard.

He left Alaska when he was 18 but, spent the remainder of his life in the Pacific Northwest. He lived his last 28 years in Salem. In 2007 Germano married Phyllis Abbott.

Germano had wide ranging talents. He most enjoyed traveling and camping: he and his wife were able to see most of Oregon this way. Germano also enjoyed construction and built 2 houses in Arlington Washington. He worked for the BPA for more than 10 years in office management.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Rose Marie Cavota of Hawaii and Elizabeth Frye of Salem Oregon.

He is survived by his daughter Theresa and a son Nathan.

Germano took special joy in helping to raise his three nieces, Michelle, Sheri, and Wendy. He continued to play a big part in their lives throughout his life.
