Inga Balleby of Mount Angel passed away on May 7, 2026. She was born on January 10, 1941 in the rural part on the island of Mon in Denmark.

Inga grew up on the island which is well known for its white chalk cliffs. On the island was a radar station that the Danish Royal Navy used to monitor the passing of ships from the Baltic Sea during the Cold War.  It was there she met her future husband, Egon Balleby in 1959.

On Sept. 4, 1960, Egon and Inga were married and soon left Denmark to begin a new life in Southern California.

In 1967, Egon and Inga moved their young family to Oregon in their 64 Ford Galaxy. They found their home in Mount Angel and have lived in Mount Angel almost the whole time.  Egon passed away in 2023.  Recently Inga downsized and moved to a duplex at Marian Estates in Sublimity, Oregon.

In 1975 Inga started a 10-year trek of education.  Obtaining her GED and Associates from Chemeketa and then onto Western Oregon for further studies.  In 1985 she received her bachelor's degree in education from Western.

Inga then went to work in Salem at Richmond Elementary school in Salem as an assistant teacher and counselor.  She was very much loved and appreciated by the children there.

Upon her retirement, she spent much of her time caring for and spending time with Egon in Mt. Angel.  Her most enjoyable pastime was growing flowers around the home.  Her roses were ones to greatly admire.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Aksel and Ena Jacobsen, her brother Svend Erik, and sisters Lilli, and Grethe.

She is survived by her sister Else (in Denmark), her son, Karsten (Kim); her daughter, Nina (Jim); four beautiful grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews throughout Denmark.

A private service will be scheduled in the late summer.
