Ione Jeanette Vigeland of Silverton, OR passed away on November 17, 2023, at the age of 94. She was born on February 28, 1929, in Grenora, North Dakota to Norman and Agnes Pedersen. As a teenager, her family moved to Silverton, OR. She met her first husband, Orville "Buck" Brosig, the father of her children, at a Silverton Armory Dance. They married in 1947 and were together for 27 years until his passing in 1974. In 1977, she married Herman Vigeland. They enjoyed 26 years together, prior to his passing.

Ione was a stay-at-home mom until her children were all in school. She then took a job as a cook at Silverton High School. She will always be remembered for her baking skills, especially her desserts. Her pantry and freezers were always full of baked or canned goods.

She loved to go camping, especially to Diamond Lake where she enjoyed fishing. She always enjoyed a good girl's trip to the beach with her family where there were plenty of pranks, instigated by her. After retirement, she & Herman enjoyed winters in Arizona and Mexico.

Ione loved doing things with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to play bingo, the card game 31 and dance the night away at the Silverton Elks Lodge where both her husbands were members. She loved a good party!

Ione was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Silverton. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She volunteered at the Silverton Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Deckelmann (Chris) and Cathie Scott (Randy), both from Silverton. Her grandchildren, Katie Kowalski, Brian Deckelmann, Jamie Scott, Ashley Scott, Michael Brosig, Darcie Pemberton, and Andrew Brosig, as well as 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ione is preceded in death by her two husbands, Orville and Herman, her son Wayne, and her sister Arlene Wells.

A graveside service will be held on December 8th, 11 am, at Valley View Cemetery, in Silverton. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at Vitis Winery, 6685 Meridian Rd NE, Silverton. All are welcome. Donations can be made in Ione's name to Silverton Immanuel Lutheran Church, Silverton Senior Center, or a charity of your choice.
