Jack D. Jory departed this earth on April 25, 2024, following a short illness while visiting his son in Madison County Alabama. Jack passed peacefully in the night marking the end of a unique and adventure filled life. Jack is survived by his son Robert Jory and sister Beverlee Koutny. Jack's brother Jerry Jory and his wife of 51 years, Bonnie J. (Stryker) Jory preceded him in death. Jack leaves behind a world full of friends and family, fellow soldiers and endless people that he met in his journey through life. Jack believed that some day everyone he knew would be together again in heaven.

Jack began his life on his grandfather's farm in South Salem on March 30, 1933, in the backdrop of the great depression. He spent his early years on the family farm learning important lessons that would serve him well in life. Jack graduated from High School in Silverton in 1951 and soon entered the military the same year. Jack served in the Korean war and three tours in the Republick of South Vietnam.

Jack could not imagine that he would spend 52 years in service to his country. 32 years in the U. S. Army and Air Force finally retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4) in 1983 and an additional 20 years as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army Material Command (AMC) and its major subordinate command known as the Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM). Jack traveled the world spending a great deal of time in remote locations and far off wars. In 1954 Jack met his wife while stationed in the states and married Bonnie J. Stryker. His wife would accompany him throughout his journeys in the military living in many countries in Asia and Europe. They were inseparable except for war and spent over 52 years together in a true state of love and devotion to each other. Bonnie passed in 2006 after a short illness. They had one son Robert L. Jory born in 1964 in Tachikawa Japan and an adopted daughter Kim M. Price.

Jack received a Bachelors degree from the University of Maryland and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii. Jack developed a love of education and teaching which he shared with soldiers as they were taught High School and College level courses in Okinawa and other duty stations. Jack realized that the most valuable thing that could be shared with his fellow person was knowledge. By expanding a persons education you are giving them the tools to succeed in life. After retiring in 2003, Jack spent that last quarter of his life in pursuit of adventures with his wife and son. He travelled throughout the globe visiting many countries in Europe to include traveling to Russia. He found time to become a part time gold miner with his son in eastern Oregon, Alaska and Western Australia. Jack also devoted much of his time and energy encouraging the next generation of young people to explore the military and the benefit to both the individual and country by serving their fellow man in defense of the country. He took great pride in the mission of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) and their service to the United States. Jack believed that the key things in life are to be a good friend to all people he met, support your family and relatives and support and defend the United States of America.

Funeral Service for Jack will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 10:30 am at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton then to Valley View Cemetery for a Graveside Service at 12:00 pm.
