Obituary

Jack William Smith passed away on July 30, 2023 at the age of 30 after a courageous battle with Melanoma cancer. Jack's love of life did not come to an end with his death. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Jack was born on November 24th,1992.
He is survived by, his fiancé, Kelsey Steveson (Winlock, WA) , his mother, Nancy Smith (McMinnville, OR), father and step mother Curtis and Chris Smith (Hubbard, OR); sister, Trisha Potter (Portland, OR); brothers, Mathew Smith (Woodburn, OR) and Ryan Smith (Hubbard, OR).

Jack grew up in Woodburn, Oregon and graduated from Woodburn High School in 2011.   During his school years he was involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and also a member of the Woodburn High School FFA.  In his senior year he built a community garden for his senior project in Hubbard, OR.  During his years in FFA he raised market sheep and pigs to sell at the Marion county fair.

Jack's dream job was to be a PGE lineman.  He completed lineman training at Clackamas Community College PGE Campus in Wilsonville, OR.  His first job was at North Sky, Sherwood, OR.  He also worked at Coastcom in Newport, OR;  Canby Utility, Canby, OR; Maxim Crane, Hubbard, OR and his most recent job was NessCampbell, Hillsboro, OR.

Over the past years Jack lived in Brooks, OR at "The Fire House" with his cousin, Garrett and friends and in Newport, OR. Mt Angel was his recent residence and where he called "home".

In 2020 Jack met Kelsey Steveson the love of his life. Kelsey moved from Winlock, WA and started a new life in Mt Angel with Jack.  During the three years they had together they made many countless memories.  Jack always made sure Kelsey was taken care of and cherished every second they were together.

Jack loved life and always had a positive outlook. He had a wicked sense of humor and was the life of the party.  Jack loved to be around his family and friends.  He loved camping, riding his ATV, game nights and going to his favorite hangout, Tiny's Tavern in Mt. Angel.  Even though Jack loved doing all these fun things it was work first for him, supporting himself and others and never asking for anything in return. Jack was a wonderful person with a heart as big as he was.  He made a positive mark on everyone he met in his short life.  He will live on in many hearts and may we all be better for having known him.
