Obituary

Silverton - Our beloved Jim passed away October 12, 2018 as the result of a bicycle accident.

Jim was born February 9, 1961 in Silverton, OR to James B and Theresa (Kempf) Little. The 6th child of 7, he came home to many waiting and loving arms and was cherished for 57 years. He loved his big happy family and met the love of his life Tanya Harstad on a blind date. He was a loving single father to his son Justin and found the perfect mother for him in Tanya. They married on June 29, 1990 and began to build their own big happy family.

Jim graduated from Silverton High School, Oregon State University and Willamette University, graduating with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence excelling in conflict resolution. He was an attorney in Silverton for almost 30 years. He built a beautiful office on his property and worked helping many with their legal needs to protect them in their wills and estate planning. He was an advocate for justice and volunteered his services to those less fortunate and in need. He was a kind and gentle man and if you met him, you were his friend.

He lost his son Justin to a tragic accident in Paris in 2009. He never really recovered from that loss. He created the Justin Little Memorial Foundation with a Kettle Corn Booth at the Mt Angel Oktoberfest raising money for History Scholarships, helping many area youths.

Jim was active in many service clubs including Rotary, Lions, Optimists, Marion County Citizens Band, Boy Scouts (assistant Scoutmaster), helping two sons to achieve their Eagle Scout, The NorthWest Civil War Council with the Maryland Line, The Benedictine Foundation, Silverton Seniors, South Salem Seniors and Knights of Columbus, attaining the Fourth Degree.

He is preceded in death by his son Justin, father James B. and sister Susie. He is survived by his wife Tanya, and children Joe (Joel), Jimmie (Alexa), & Jeremy, his mother Theresa, sisters Mary Rayburn, Linda Steffen, Margaret (Larry) Tingwall, and brothers Ed and Bill (Lisa) Little.

A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at St Paul's Catholic Church 1410 Pine St, Silverton on Monday October 29 at 10 AM.
