John Joseph
Palmer
Jan 18, 1939 — Feb 21, 2026
Mt. Angel
John Joseph Palmer, 87, of Mt. Angel, Oregon, passed on peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on Feb. 21, 2026,
Born Jan. 18, 1939, in Silverton, Oregon, he was one of seven children of Roy and Marie Palmer. He was raised in Mt. Angel and graduated from Mt. Angel Preparatory School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1966 as a Communications Specialist.
In August 1967, he married Pam Roseler. They shared 50 amazing years of marriage and raised two wonderful daughters, Amy and Kristin.
While intensely proud of his farming roots, after his time in the Air Force he worked for Boeing before building a career as a master landscaper at Washington Square Mall. He found his greatest joy in his family with his beloved Pam by his side, walking his two daughters down the aisle and spending time with his grandsons, Ryan and Jason.
He enjoyed a full life of fishing, woodworking, gardening, country drives, western television programs and Sunday pinochle games with family.
He is survived by his sisters, Rose Dryden and Mary Kligel; daughters Amy Pendergast and Kristin Palmer Turner; sons-in-law Steve Pendergast and Lee Palmer Turner; two grandsons; and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held beginning with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Angel, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.
