John Theodore
"Ted" Debacon
May 31, 1928 — Dec 7, 2018
Silverton
John Theodore "Ted" Debacon passed away December 7, 2018. He was born in Gervais, on May 31, 1928; the youngest of 6 children.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, brother, 4 sisters, his first wife, Maureen and his daughter, Aileen. Ted is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jody Debacon, his daughter: Ann Benson of Salem, Mary Debacon (Scott Johnson) of Diamond Bar, CA, Elizabeth (Jeff) Hunt of Scio, Jody (Dave) Engen of North Pole, AK, Shelley Johnson of Silverton, son, John Goodman of Wasilla, AK, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Having worked for the State of Oregon and Marion County Road Department for 43 years. Ted retired January 1, 1990, he looked forward to staying warm in the winter and working on his cars. He was a "Jack of all trades". Shortly after marrying, Jody asked Ted "Is there anything you can't do?" He thought for a moment and said "Well, I don't like to iron!"
Ted was an avid bowler and loved sharing that time with friends and family. He greatly enjoyed his tractor collection, country music, classic movies, auctions, and rodeos. He was never without a roll of life savers, whether he was bowling, gone on cherished trips with his wife or tending to his 240 rose bushes.
Ted could always be counted on to help others and loved "being on call" for his friends and family. Ted or 'Boppy' as his grandkids affectionately called him, took great pride in being the world's greatest grandpa.
