Joseph D
"Joey" Monk
Mar 8, 1978 — Mar 31, 2022
Silverton
Joey Monk, avid fisherman, accomplished bartender, natty dresser, and Halloween enthusiast died on Thursday March 31, 2022. Joey had a lifelong love affair with fishing—any opportunity to cast a line in a body of water was a good day in his book. Growing up, he spent a lot of time traveling all over Oregon camping & fishing on the weekends with family and friends. He was renowned for his salmon slaying skills among the family (just ask his brother).
If he wasn't on the water fishing, you would most likely find him behind a bar slinging your favorite spirits. For Joey, bartending was not just a job, it was a passion that he excelled at. He enjoyed serving his community and longtime customers whom he considered friends—always with a smile on his face.
His classic flashy style was unmatched, he took his fashion cues from no one. Always dressed to the nines no matter where he was headed! His love for dressing up meant he dressed for all the holidays and Halloween was one of those occasions where Joey would go all in (if you know, you know).
Joey entered eternal life too early, but his spirit shall be carried on by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Gail Monk, who most likely met her son with a fishing pole in one hand and a bologna sandwich in the other. He is survived by his father & stepmom Bob & Janet Monk, brother Gary Mull, sister Melissa Hernandez, and five nieces & nephews.
