Joseph was born in Salina, Kansas, the son of Joseph E. Whittecar Sr. and Francis M. (Kouns) Whittecar.

As a Vietnam veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country with honor and integrity. He spent the majority of his working life as a truck driver, which he enjoyed immensely.

Joseph enjoyed the thrill of motorcycle riding and racing, as well as having a passion for baseball.

A celebration of Joseph's life was spent as a memorial walk around South Salem high school's baseball fields, where his enthusiasm of baseball shown through his umpiring days in the Little League division.

He will forever remain in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren
