Juanita Mae Soule, 90, passed away on March 3,2023 in Keizer, Oregon. She was born in Red Bluff, California to Richard Sheffield and Carolynn Mae Sheets on December 31, 1932.
She was dedicated to every aspect of her life including her family, friends, religion, and each career position she held to accomplish her goals and care for her family's well-being. She endured many hardships and serious illnesses in her life but managed to maintain a positive attitude even in her final days. She always encouraged her family to do the same in life. She was known as a sweet lady with courage and determination that echoes throughout her family. She took the time to know a person by name, ask questions about them, and listen to their stories, cultivating into long-lasting friendships.
She lived in Northern California until 1974, when the remaining family at home moved to Salem, Oregon, to own and operate the Salem Travelodge until retiring. Her avid love of creating anything with a sewing machine or any variety of needlework followed her everywhere throughout her life.
Juanita had 8 younger siblings: Ronnie Ottman (deceased), Billy Ottman, Phillip Ottman (deceased), Jimmy Ottman, Jerry Ottman (deceased), Richard Brown, Roxana Grimes, and Sheila Burke.
She had five children with spouses: Linda King (deceased), husband Duane (deceased), Sherry West, husband Don, Luann Dahl, husband Roger, Joe Goulette, wife Jani, and stepdaughter Charlene Wright (deceased), husband Frank.
She had thirteen grandchildren: Corey King, Craig King, David King, Steven Wright, Mary Christiansen, Misty Giles, Kendy Rickerd, James Hankins, Jackie Ross, Cora Harlow, Travis Dahl, Ashley Butler, and Matthew Goulette. Twenty-six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also brought enormous amounts of joy to her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles (2013). They will rest together in interment at Valley View Cemetery in Silverton, Oregon.
A memorial service will be held at Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community (WLRC) Chapel in Keizer, Oregon, April 1st, 2023, at 1pm. WLRC was home to Juanita and Charles for over 12 years. They greatly appreciated the time and the care they received during their tenure with newly acquired family and friends. All of our family was grateful for WLRC during that time.
