Sublimity – Karen Mallorie, 64, passed peacefully into eternity at the Santiam Hospital, Stayton, Oregon in the early morning of January 20 ^th , 2023, from complications of a fall in her home.

She was born September 18 ^th , 1958, in Conneaut, Ohio, to George & Sally Mallorie, where she lived the first four years of her life on their family dairy farm, then moving west to Silverton, Oregon with her father and younger sister. At six years old, Karen, like many other children of that generation, began to learn to work by picking strawberries and such for the local farmers in the Silverton area. Her first hourly job came to her at the age of twelve, when she was hired on for the summer to work at Mallorie's Dairy in their processing plant on the bottle cleaning machine. That was in the day, when milk only came in glass jugs. The highlight of each of her workdays was hoping to run into the plant manager, who would then give her a fudgesicle or ice cream sandwich to eat on her way home. Some days he would give an extra to take home to her sister too. Karen went on to work many other summer jobs for the local farmers as she marked each passing school year.

Karen grew up in a family passionate of watching & playing sports. She was a gifted fast-pit pitcher, playing for the Silverton Elks team for several summers, helping her team bring home a state trophy. She enjoyed and excelled in volleyball and basketball in her high school years. She spent one ear in college at Eastern Oregon State College in La Grande, Oregon and found college was not quite for her, returning home to begin working in hospitality, starting at Chalet Pancake House as a cook, then manager. She then went to work at Roth's Friendly Foodliner as a Deli manager, moving around too many to their store locations for many, many years.

Karen moved back to the family farm in Lake Labish area in 1999, to live and take care of father, then widowed to her stepmother Francis (Parson) Mallorie. There, she became a great fishing buddy with her father, taking their boat and dogs to many of the different lakes in the Central Oregon area.  Opon her father's death in 2008, she continued to live at the farm with her dogs, up to six months prior to her death, moving to Sublimity.

Karen is survived by her sister, Judy (Larry) Stadeli of Rochester, Washington and nine nieces and nephews.

In Karen's last year on earth, she pondered in her heart and mad changes in her relationship with God and man. May we like Karen find that peace, not waiting until the last hour or last year of our like to find it.

A service will be at noon, Saturday, January 28 ^th , 2023, at Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton, the burial will follow at Belle Passi Cemetery in Woodburn, Oregon.  Arrangements made by Unger Funeral Chapel-Silverton
