Obituary

Corinne Kay Stoltz of Salem passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 14 at the age of 87.  Kay, as everyone knew her by, was born in Dayton Oregon March 10, 1933 to Arthur Anton Seifried and Fern Foster.  In 1941 at the age of eight she tragically lost her father when he was killed in a construction accident while working on the Yamhill River Bridge.  Her mother Fern later married Rueben (Red) Jorgenson in 1948 and and together they moved to Silverton, where she attended Silverton High School and worked at the soda fountain in Steelhammer's Drug Store after school and during the summer.  It was shortly after moving to Silverton that she met William (Bill) Stoltz; they fell in love together and married in 1950.  Sadly, their first child, Sandra Kay,  passed shortly after her birth.  However, they went on to have three more children-Connie, Randy and Mark whom they raised with great love and devotion.  After 47 years of marriage Bill passed away from cancer in 1996 and Kay understandably went through a lonely and difficult transition, although after time her personal faith and strength rekindled her joy of life, which she always shared with her children, grand-children and friends.  It was nearly 10 years later when she met and became close friends with  Lawrence Wenger, and the two wed in 2007 and greatly enjoyed life together until his death in late 2009.  While saddened by the loss, Kay always expressed happiness and gratefulness for her second opportunity to enjoy a loving relationship.  She spent most of her remaining years living in the beloved home she'd shared with her two husbands and hosted dozens upon dozens of  Thanksgivings, Christmas' and Birthday celebrations as well as countless family summer barbeques.  She was also very active in her second family, her United Methodist Church of Silverton family.  This was the church where Kay gathered and worshipped with her closest friends and family for over 50 years and she loved all the time she spent there. It was only in the last two years that her declining health made it impossible for her to attend caused her to move into assisted  living, and the family would like to specifically thank the entire staff at the Woods At Willowcreek  for the loving care and kindness with which they showed their mom.  Kay is survived by, and lives on in the hearts of, her daughter Connie and grandson Troy; and her son Randy and grandson Byron and granddaughters Brittany and Nicole;  and her son Mark and grandson Tyler and granddaughter Holly, as well as numerous  great-grand children, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death and currently reuniting with her mother and father Fern and Art, her step-dad Red, her two husbands Bill and Lawrence (they get along great), her two brothers Clayton and Deryl, her two sisters  Myrna and Joyce, and last but not least her precious first child Sandra Kay.  Due to the pandemic a small, private ceremony will be held at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton with  a celebration of life to be determined at a later date.  Kay's family ask that for now you celebrate in kindness to those around you, family friends and especially strangers as a way to honor not only her life, but the lives of all our loved ones who have passed before us.
