Kirk Matthew Stone passed on August 28, 2021 after an intermittent battle with cancer. He was 60 years young.

Kirk was a modern-day nomad. One of his first jobs was traveling the U.S. where he was lucky enough to witness the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" US/USSR Olympic hockey game. He educated himself in metalworking and woodworking, taking positions in the Portland area and eventually moving into sales which took him throughout the U.S. The Pacific Northwest was his primary stomping ground and he loved everything about it: the people, the industry, the travel, the culture, and the phenomenal beauty of the countryside.

Kirk was an accomplished woodworker who thoroughly enjoyed filling other people's garages with his various and rare scraps of wood. He won several awards for furniture design and craftsmanship and was always planning more. He was also an accomplished chess player who taught his younger siblings to play just to be able to see how few moves he could claim victory. He loved the outdoors and explored the local and distant, was a student of history, politics, and surprised all with his knowledge of various other topics. And his love for the 49'ers and the Giants will be missed.

Kirk epitomized the term social butterfly...he just loved people. If he knew you, you were his buddy. Kirk made it a point to connect with family and he made them feel special, as a father, grandfather, brother, or whatever relation or role he had with you. He is survived by his partner, Signe, her brother Jon, daughter Tara, parents Tom and Gayle; sisters Jennifer and Samantha; brothers Spencer and Tom; aunt Kathie; cousins Liz, Peggy, Michelle, Marc, Paul, and several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother in arms of 45 years, Dusty...may you both continue your journey together.

Kirk believed tradesman were the backbone of our country and was passionate about closing the skills gap.
