Laura Gooley, age 92 of Mt. Angel, OR passed away peacefully on October 1, 2021 in her sleep at the Mt. Angel Towers where she had resided for many years.

Laura Davidson was born on April, 19, 1929 in St. Paul, OR to Edward and Eleanor (Kirk) Davidson. She was the fifth of seven children.

She went to school in St. Paul, graduating from St. Paul Union High School in 1947. After graduation she went on to study Home Economics at Marylhurst College.

Laura married Arthur Gooley of Mt. Angel, Oregon on November 17 ^th , 1951. The nuptials were held at St. Paul Catholic Church in St Paul, Oregon. They had five children and raised them in Mt. Angel. Laura and Art enjoyed 32 years of marriage before his passing in 1983 from cancer.

Laura worked 30 years at US Bank, a job she thoroughly enjoyed before retiring in 1991. She then volunteered at Providence Benedictine Nursing Center. She was also a member of St. Ann's Altar Society. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and could be seen walking to daily mass and up the Abbey hill while praying her rosary.

Laura loved the local Oktoberfest festival. She talked about it and looked forward to it all year long. She also loved to entertain, hosting many deck parties at her home. She also organized a last Friday of the month luncheon for 15 years, where everyone met at various restaurants. At the beginning, these luncheons were for local widows but later included anyone who wanted to attend. She also enjoyed playing pinochle which is how she met her second husband, Arnold Zollner. They married in 1992 and shared 13 years together until his passing in 2005.

Laura is survived by her children, John (Diane) of Mt. Angel, Bob (Karen) of Salem, Janice (Rex) Anderson of Salem and Timothy of Mt. Angel. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and son in law Gary Schonbachler.

She was preceded in death by husband's Arthur and Arnold, her parents, six siblings, her daughter Donna Schonbachler, daughter in law Suzanne, grandson Matthew Anderson and great granddaughter Finley Brackinreed.

Services will be held under the direction of Unger's Funeral Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:30 am with Mass to follow at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 6 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt Angel. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 5 from 1-4 at Unger's in Mt. Angel.
