A great man, very civic minded, Passed away on Thursday May, 23, 2024 after a valiant fight with cancer.
He was born in Quincy Missouri on February 08, 1943 to Mary Catherine McCloskey and Clem Kriegshauser. He was the youngest of 5 children. He lived in Edina and then Baring Missouri and helped his Dad in his grocery store. Around 1958 he moved west to Oregon along with his parents. As he was growing up, he had a fascination with building things. This passion drove him to his profession of Cabinet building. Larry could build anything his mind envisioned. He built his first house at the age of 16 for his parents in Woodburn and this house is still standing. He served in the National Guard for 12 years. He attended Woodburn High School and Mt. Angel College. He many times would reminisce about riding down the Abbey Hill on a skateboard, until he was caught by one of the priests. After college he met LaDonna Jamison, they were married on April 1, 1967. They had a beautiful and blessed marriage with 3 children, Chris, Bryan and Lori who blessed them more with beautiful grandchildren; Conner and Dylan, Paige and Courtney and blessed again with a great grandson, Hudson. Larry and LaDonna worked fiercely to build up their company called Kriegsco. They were married 50 years when his beautiful bride passed Sept 5, 2017.
Larry spent many of his younger years volunteering for many civic organizations. He was a master at creating success and along the way deep friendships. Several organizations benefitted from his mastery of organization and networking. He served on the North Marion County Fair Board from 1962 until 1970, He was very patriotic and was deeply involved in the 4th of July Firework celebrations for Woodburn and Seaside. Other groups: Woodburn JC's, Kiwanis, Boy scouts in which he was awarded the Order of the Arrow, Vigil Honor, Oregon Jr Miss, He served 11 years on the Hubbard Rural Fire Board, 16 years on the Board of Directors for the Argonauts Drum and Bugle Corp. He started and ran the "Drums of Fire" Drum and bugle Corp show and was the president for 13 years. He was the founder of the Hubbard Parks Improvement Committee and was instrumental in building the splash pad in Rivenes Park. Larry filled the hearts of thousands of children as he played his cherished role of Santa Claus over many years.
Later in his years after LaDonna had passed, Larry knocked on the door of an old friend, Linda Sauer. They had lunch together and from then on, they enjoyed each other's company. They got married in 2021. This relationship was unexpected and precious. They enjoyed every minute and made the most of their time together. It joined 2 families who already knew each other well, as Linda's daughters used to babysit the Kriegshauser kids in the 70's. Larry enjoyed the bantering of Linda and her daughters, Wendy, Kerrie and Jodi. This union brought 3 more daughters to Larry's life, 3 son in laws, 7 more grandchildren St. 6 great grandchildren.
Services will be held May 31 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mt. Angel, Oregon. Rosary at 10:30 and funeral at 11:00. Luncheon to follow.
