Lenore Teresa Rose Vetsch Schaecher, age 93 ½, of Mount Angel, Oregon, was called home to heaven's choir on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. Lenore was born the youngest of 10 to Adolph and Katherine Vetsch on a farm in Bluffton, Alberta Canada where she grew up and completed her education. Anyone who knows her would know her for her sweetness, while also her spunk. It was that kind of spirit that led to a move far from home at just 18 years old, following her best friend and older sister Helen, landing herself in her life-long home in Mount Angel, Oregon. While visiting Helen, Lenore was introduced to Wilbert "Bill" Schaecher at a wedding in town. Soon after, he asked her to a dance where sparks flew, an engagement followed, and those sparks turned to fireworks as they were married on July 4, 1949 at St. Mary's Church.

Together the two of them began building a life and growing a family. Their home was soon filled with love as well as children. Lenore went on to be a mother of 8 to Rick, Judy, Lou, Teresa, Renee, Pat, Dale, and Steven. From the moment Lenore established roots in Mount Angel, she dedicated her life to her family and her faith. At St. Mary's Church she served as a lector, eucharistic minister, flower arranger, teacher of catechism and RCIA classes, and most notably, serving over 50 years in the church choir. Music was always known to be one of Lenore's favorite things.

She was a talented seamstress, sewing over 20 wedding dresses for young brides in town among many other things. She also served as the smiling face behind the counter at the drugstore in town.

Lenore was known for having a love for sweet things but even more so, she was known for being sweet herself. Her tender smile, warm hugs, and long hand holds as if she never wanted to let go left all who knew her feeling deeply loved and cared for. Her spunky spirit and quick wit kept us all on our toes and regularly laughing. Her life of great impact leaves us with the reminder that great impact comes through constant, committed, consistent, acts of deep love and kindness. She is survived by her 8 loving children, 21 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren.

Her final day was spent peacefully in bed, surrounded by loved ones in a room filled with musical farewells and tender goodbyes. Though deeply and dearly missed, all who knew her can smile through their tears knowing with confidence that she bids us adieu accomplishing all she was put on this earth to do, leaving a legacy of love to be remembered by and learned from.
