Leonard M. Rothenberger, 92, died on October 15, 2026. He was born January 1934, in Portland, Oregon. Leonard grew up in the Sherwood area before proudly serving in the United States Army. After his service, he settled in the Willamette Valley, where he and his wife, Elaine, built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and community.
Leonard provided for his family as sheet‑metal worker. His commitment to service continued throughout his life as a volunteer fireman, volunteered for Father Taaffe Home, and an active and longtime member of the Canby–Aurora VFW Post, serving as Post Commander, where he supported fellow veterans and their families
Outside of work, Leonard found joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, crabbing, gardening, and sharing the bounty of his efforts with family and friends. His generosity and steady presence were felt by everyone who knew him.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Elaine; his children Leonard Jr, Michael, Don, Sue, Tim, Judy, Darlene, and Ruth; 21 grandchildren; and many great‑grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of kindness, resilience, and devotion to family.
