Obituary

It is with great love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Leta Mae Cox of Salem,

Oregon on March 19, 2023.

Leta was born on December 22, 1940, in Bakersfield, California to Glen Woodard & Louise

Woodard (Rake). California is where she met the love of her life Edward Cox. Edward & Leta

married in 1957 and were blessed to have celebrated 61 years of marriage in October of 2018.

Sadly, Edward passed away November 2nd, 2018.

Leta and Edward moved to Oregon with their two children, Sherry and Guy, in the 1960's. Leta

would spend the rest of her life in Oregon, enjoying all the natural beauty it had to offer,

including fishing, hunting, camping, and spotting her beloved hummingbirds.

Leta would spend her life trying to bring comfort and joy to those she loved, particularly her

family. A particularly beloved grandmother, she would often spend her afternoons teaching her

grandchildren how to play poker or how to play Zelda on her Nintendo 64. She enjoyed working

on puzzles and playing cards with her family, and particularly enjoyed catching her son Guy

when he tried to cheat. She loved Loretta Lynn, bingo, and slot machines, and it was rare to

see her without a cup of coffee in her hand.

Leta spent the last years of her life in a wheelchair, but now she is at peace, and walking once

again in Heaven with Edward and the two babies they lost, Little Eddie & Little Ricky.

Leta is lovingly remembered by her children Sherry Taylor (Rick) of Salem, Oregon and Guy

Cox of Stayton, Oregon; grandchildren: Melissa Bartolome (Patrick) of Salem, DJ Moullet of

Salem, Beth Debus (Tony) of Jefferson, Travis Taylor of Salem, Amanda Short (Kamie) of

Canby, Shelbi Cox of Silverton, and Annie Taylor of Salem; and seven great-grandchildren:

Corbin Bartolome, Trevor Taylor, Colin Bartolome, Kimberly Bartolome, Genevieve Taylor,

Ashton Taylor, and Sawyer Short; along with numerous nieces and nephews, including her

niece Charla Cox of Salem.

A Celebration of Life will be held in May, location yet to be determined
