Obituary

Linda Mary Berhorst, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away

peacefully on March 26, 2026, at the age of 78. Linda was born on July 29, 1947 in Grant Pass, Oregon. She graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1965 and went on to Southern Oregon College where she met Raymond Berhorst. They were married June 15, 1968 in Ashland Oregon. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education from Oregon State University in 1972 and taught business skills classes at Silverton High School and Chemeketa Community College.

In 1971 Linda and Ray built a new farm home in the Silverton hills. In a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to family they adopted three children from South Korea. Kim in 1975 (5 ½ months) then Joe and Steve in 1978 (7and 5 years). She raised them with deep love, strength and unwavering commitment as a devoted mother, and was a constant source of encouragement and care, guiding them through every stage of life. While raising her family, and teaching night classes, she was an avid gardener, oil painter and active farm hand.

Linda served for many years as an executive member of the Silverton-Mt. Angel Christian Women's Club. She dedicated her time and heart volunteering and serving others. She was a faithful member of the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Salem, Oregon for 20 years. She deeply loved the outdoors and found joy in hiking. Linda especially enjoyed participating in Volkswalks across the U.S., embracing adventure and the beauty of nature. In retirement this led to many travel adventures for hiking, camping and bird watching.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Berhorst, her children, Joe, Steve, and Kim Berhorst and her grandchildren Jenell, Tate, Jaden, Jack and Ava. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister. Linda will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, teacher, friend, and wife. Her legacy is one of compassion, faith, strength, and love for family. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure.
