Lloyd Adair Heinz Jr. was born on August 9th, 1925 in Silverton, Oregon to Lloyd Adair Heinz, Sr. and Leila Frances Reed. He was the 4th generation of the Heinz family to live in the Scotts Mill area with his great-grandparents arriving by boat to Oregon in 1874. He attended Scotts Mill grade and high school. As soon as Lloyd turned 18 years old, he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Germany and Belgium in 1943. After the war he returned to Oregon to attend Oregon State University, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation he moved to Pennsylvania to work for General Electric. Later he moved to Seattle and started work for Chevron Oil Company. In 1959 Lloyd married Monika Sustrajakovs and Lloyd became step-father to her two children, Mary and Gunther. Moving back to Oregon, Lloyd worked for American Bituchmalls Asphalt in Linton, Oregon before returning to the Willamette Valley. Lloyd enjoyed retirement. He fished, hunted, and continued his hobby of woodworking. He also raised nearly two dozen Suffolk sheep, which were his passion. Lloyd Adair Heinz, Jr. is survived by his step-son, Gunther, brother, Elvin Averitt Heinz and many nieces and nephews.
