Louise Legard, 94, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021. She was born on December 27, 1926 in Silverton, Oregon to Olive and Arthur Patrick Ryan. She was the middle of three children. Louise was raised in Silverton and graduated from Silverton High School in 1944. Following graduation, she attended the University of Oregon where she majored in Interior Design.

In 1947she married Denny Legard. Louise and Denny celebrated 72 years of marriage before Denny's passing in 2019. Louise loved the beauty of life. She was an artist that observed the world with a curiosity and intensity that gave rise to beautiful paintings & sketches, seamstress work, home design, and rose gardens. Above all, she loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Louise worked for many years as a school secretary at Mark Twain, Robert Frost, and Silverton High school.

In retirement, she and Denny moved to Newport, Oregon where they both enjoyed living on Yaquina Bay, fishing, and making new friends. In 1994, they moved to Salem Towne. Louise was active in a variety of organizations, but her first love was always being with family. Many afternoons were spent drinking tea and chatting about life. Family and friends will always remember Louise as a talented, creative, and loving woman. Her enthusiasm and love of life were felt by all who knew her.

Louise is survived by her daughter Suzanne Simas-Murphy, her son David Legard, her brother John Ryan, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Ryan (Bechtel).

The family would like to thank Willamette Valley Hospice and Heartwood Place. There will be a private interment at Valley View Cemetery.
