Margaret
Hazel
Jul 17, 1925 — Sep 13, 2022
Scotts Mills
Margaret Hazel went to be with Jesus from her home near Scotts Mills on September 13 th , 2022. She was born July 17, 1925 at Vermont, Illinois, the third of Truman and Orva Montgomery's four children. The family moved to a small dairy farm at Ladysmith, Wisconsin when Mag was quite small. There she milked cows, cooked for the family, and drove the hay truck, establishing a life-long pattern as a hard worker. When the family moved to Kennydale, Washington in 1939 they rented a house from Howard Hazel. Margaret was a typist at Boeing after High School, and married the neighbor boy, Dick Hazel, in 1946 after Dick completed two years service in the Navy during WW2. They moved to Portland, Oregon where Dick was an engineer for Hyster Company. Mag and Dick's family was completed by sons, Ted and Tom. They "retired" to their Scotts Mills, Oregon Christmas tree farm in 1974. Mag was involved in all aspects of the farm, planting over 300,000 trees throughout the years. She filled the cellar with the produce of her large garden, sewed, knitted, read her Bible, and loved her family abundantly. Grandma's house was always a good place to be. Now missing her presence are her sons Ted (Jeanne) Hazel and Tom (Felicia) Hazel; her grandchildren David (Joy) Hazel, Emily Henderson, Luke (Olivia) Hazel, Sophie Nash, and Audrey Hazel; her greatgrandchildren Avery, Roman, Tallulah, Willamina, and Jasmine. Her husband, Dick Hazel, passed on in 1982. A memorial gathering will be scheduled at a later date.
