Marilyn Ann Terhaar, aged 78, passed away on Monday April 13, 2026, in Albany after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond "Roxy" Terhaar and Leona (Schiedler) Terhaar, and her brothers Bobby and Paul.
Marilyn is survived by her sisters, Alice Strassmaier of Hillsboro, Elizabeth Terhaar and Linda Schiller of Salem, Sister Rosemary Terhaar OSB, of Nanaimo BC, Canada, Eileen Clark of Mt. Angel, and Therese Nair of Sherwood, and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn attended schools in Mt. Angel and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. She entered the convent of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Frankfort, Illinois. She attended Marillac College in St. Louis, Missouri and received her diploma in Nursing. After college, she worked as a nurse in hospitals in St. Louis, and the Chicago area. She pursued further education, attending UCLA where she graduated with a master's degree in nursing administration.
She returned to Mt. Angel and became an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Silverson, where she sang in the choir and worked for years teaching the kindergarten children during mass. After her father died, she moved in with her mother to help.
She was Director of Nursing at Silverton Hospital and later worked at Kaiser Permanente. Marilyn enjoyed monthly get together with three grade school friends that had stayed close through the years. She also enjoyed family get-togethers, camping at the beach, watching movies, making art and sharing happiness.
