Obituary

Marlin Hutton, born January 22, 1939 in Silverton, Oregon to Don and Cora Hutton, passed away February 2, 2021 at his residence in Salem. He was a proud third-generation Silvertonian whose paternal grandfather was born in Silverton in 1856.

He attended Silverton schools and graduated from Silverton Union High School in 1957.

He married Carolyn Larson, with whom he was happily married for 60 years. He is survived by his wife, of Salem, two sons, Lincoln and Stuart, of Portland, his sister Lorraine Hanson of San Diego, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

After graduating from Portland State University, he started a career in juvenile corrections at McLaren School for boys.  A dedicated supervisor for many years, he also left a respected legacy of impartiality in his role as assistant to the superintendent.

He loved to drive and spent many happy years RVing with Carolyn and his cat. He appreciated people in all their varieties and enjoyed capturing them in photographs with his camera that followed him everywhere since age 16. He loved to eat and joked that his two favorite words in the English language were "boo-fay". He had a great sense of humor.

He will be missed.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
