Mary Joan "Jo" Leonard passed away peacefully in her Silverton home of over 60 years August 11, 2018. She was born on March 20, 1930 in Marshfield (Coos Bay), Oregon. Her early years were spent in the Salem area until moving outside Silverton when she was in high school. She graduated from Silverton High School in 1948 where she had also met the love of her life, Charles (Chuck) Leonard. They had three children and were married for 64 years until his death in 2014. She is also preceded in death by her parents Velma and Elmer Lake, sister Jane Ettner.

Jo enjoyed anything to do with family plus hosting large family gatherings, several Bridge Clubs and golfing. While her children were young she was active in PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Junior Women's Club, and the Election Board. Later she was a member of the Silverton City Planning Committee, active in PEO, worked as a bookkeeper at Silverton Drug, then Larson Flynn Insurance as well as Chuck's Sport Shop which she and Chuck had built and started in 1962.

She is survived by her children Trisha (Jerry) Mohr, Charles "Chuck" (Mary Ann) Leonard, and Thomas "Tom" Leonard, brother John (JoEllen) Lake, and brother-in-law David (Pam) Leonard, nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A private family Memorial celebration is planned. Donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Special Olympics in lieu of flowers.
