"Matthew Walter Wong, 22 of Salem, Oregon unjustly taken from us on February 27, 2025. Matthew was an artist. A musician. A philosopher. He cared about his God and Lord more than anything. He loved his family and his country. He cared about the wars in Gaza and Ukraine and the people who suffered. He cared about you, even if you didn't know him.

He's survived by his dad, Peter; his mom Christina; his grandpa Matthew Wong; his nana Patsy Hanna; his step parents Giselle and Oby; his siblings Hannah, Hayley, Hillary, and Mason; aunts Cynthia Jo, Suzanne, Shannon, Bridget, Shelly, and Marta; his uncle's Andrew, Paul, Phil, and Eric; his nieces and nephew (who loved him more than anything and still ask for Uncle Matthew) Benjamin and Elizabeth; his cousins Kamryn, Joseph, Bre, Shane, Johnathan, Benny, Kaylie, Natalie, and Ashley.

He was loved by so many. His untimely death is felt so deeply by his community. We hold him in God's arms today and forever. Oh, and also his favorite sports teams – the Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks – his favorite band Guns N Roses-how could we forget them. Until we meet again, Matthew. Your family loves you. He was wrongly taken from us at a young age."
