Michael Justin Hittner, born in Silverton, Oregon to Margaret, and Francis Hittner on February 18th, 1942. Passed away peacefully on January 20th at age 79 just a few weeks before his 80th birthday. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Delores Mabel "Johnnson" Hittner, age 76 on March 20th 2021.

Dad spent several years in the Silverton Hills with his parents and nine siblings, until moving to Salem, Oregon where they settled. He attended North Salem High School. As a young man his first job was a bicycle courier, for Western Union. Dad was very shy but was asked to do a singing telegram to Governor Vic Atiyeh. Singing him Happy Birthday.

Mike Enjoyed going to the local dance hall where he met his wife, Delores Mabel Johnson in 1964. Mike and Delores were married two years later October 8th, 1966 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Salem, Oregon. He went on to join the Army National Guard where he served for four years from 1974 to 1977. Mike then had a long career with Oregon Cherry Growers where he retired after 29 years.

Dad was a wonderful father and a great provider for his family. He is survived by his children Laurie Donahue, Michael Hittner Jr, Eileen Bean and Jeffrey Hittner, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Margie Rowe, Maurice (Mo) Hittner, Mary (Norma) Hittner, Dorothy Goergen (Lang), John Hittner, Rita Cude, & Ellen Muhs. Michael preceded in death by Francis (France) Hittner, & Daniel (Danny) Hittner.

Dad cherished his family and gave unconditional love to them. He was very giving to those in need. Justice for "the little guy" was very important to him. He enjoyed antique cars, country drives and spending his mornings at the local coffee shop with his newspaper; But all through his life he loved music. He could whistle any tune. We grew up hearing Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, and Sammy Davis Jr. just to name a few. He would often dance with his grandchildren on his feet and sing to them. His Favorite color was blue, and he loved a good military haircut. Dad loved to cook Thanksgiving Dinner, for he loved to feed the family, but his favorite to make was Cabbage Rolls. His kitchen always had curry and fresh cloves of garlic which he considered essentials. Dad loved the Catholic Faith and would often sit with us discussing scripture. He instilled in us the Glory of the Lord , and to keep our faith. Dad had a great love for plants and gardening. When we were growing up, he always had a summer garden filled with his favorite vegetables.

Thank you for giving us morals, values and for teaching us to be kind and love each other unconditionally. Thank you for the music and the laughter, but most of all thank you for letting us be the ones who called you Dad. Now go and be with your beautiful wife. May God Bless you and keep you in his loving arms until we meet again.

Recitation of the Rosary will be Friday, January 28th 2022 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 am
