Obituary

Nadine Luella Lauber was born at home in Naponee, Nebraska on November 11, 1928 to parents Alice Fay and Reuben Bashford. She passed away on August 18, 2026 at home in Mt. Angel, Oregon.

Following graduation Nadine married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Lauber on May 27, 1948. They then traveled to Oregon making their home in Silverton for 74 years. The family was complete after the births of Patty and Joan.

She was a stay at home mom until the girls were in school then had several part time jobs including the cannery. A veterinarian assistant, and custodian. She later began her career as a telephone service representative retiring from Verizon in 1990. Hobbies included reading, knitting, playing Bridge, and volunteer work. In retirement numerous trips were made with their travel trailer; Panama Canal, European river & Hawaiian cruises; and enjoying being home with family and friends. She was a long time member of the Silverton United Methodist Church.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Floyd. Her surviving family includes siblings: Ellen Hadley and Marvin (Marilyn) Bashford; children: Patty (Mark) Swantek and Joan Gelder; grandchildren: Ryan Gray, Nathan Gelder, and Trisha Morales; great-grandchildren: Mason, Bennett, & Jackson Gray; Raven, Reef, & Sky Gelder and Dahlia Morales.

A celebration of life is planned at Mt. Angel Towers on Sunday, September 13 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are made by Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton.

The family sincerely thanks the staff and residents of Mt. Angel Towers for always being so helpful, friendly and welcoming to all of us. Special thanks to Anna, Kylie, Christine and Victoria for the amazing care and love they gave to Nadine, allowing her to remain in her Towers home. We also appreciate the support provided by Serenity Hospice.
