CANBY – Nancy Hava Sutton, 86, passed away July 14 th at County Side Living in Canby.
Nancy was born November 1, 1933 in Mason City, Iowa. She married Wilbur (Bill) Sutton of Silverton, Oregon in 1954 and traveled with him to multiple army postings around the United States and Japan. After Bill's retirement from the Army, the growing family returned to Silverton and then settled into their family home in Gervais where they raised their four children.
Nancy worked as a cook and later head cook at Gervais elementary school for 20 years. She was active in the Gervais community serving as a city council member and police commissioner. She was most fulfilled by helping others and organized many charitable and community events. After retirement, she and Bill moved to Woodburn, where she was active in the Driftwood mobile home park community. She loved cribbage, dominoes, word searches, arts & crafts and music.
Nancy is survived by her son, Glenn Lee (Kristi), grandchildren: Fran Hostetler (Mark), Dawn Nelson (Greg), and Connor Sutton, and great grandchildren: Angelina, Natalie, Jackson, Gavin, and Madison. She is preceded in death by her husband Wilbur and her 3 children: Jerry Dwayne, Hava Catherine, and Jon Jay.
A private interment service will be July 23 at Willamette National Cemetery for immediate family only.
Arrangements are by Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton.
