Olive Juliana
Duda
Jan 24, 1926 — Dec 9, 2018
Salem
Olive Juliana Duda was born on January 24, 1926 to Clement and Rosalia Duda. She died peacefully in her sleep on December 9, 2018, at the age of 92.
Olive grew up on her parents' farm in Mount Angel, Oregon, in the foothills of the Abbey. After graduating from high school, she attended Phagans' Beauty College in Salem, Oregon. Her career as a hairdresser spanned five decades. She had a special relationship with her clients and enjoyed socializing with them.
Over the years she enjoyed traveling--Ireland, Hawaii and Vegas being her favorite destinations. You could not keep her away from the Oktoberfest. She attended 50 years in a row and amassed quite a collection of steins. She loved bingo and delighted in concerts with her family. Her favorite musical artists included Engelbert Humperdinck, Tony Bennett and Tom Jones.
Best of all, she was like a second mother to her many nieces and nephews. She showed a genuine interest in each and every one and made her family feel cherished and loved.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Monica Majeski and Margaret Duda, and brothers Ambrose and Robert Duda. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A rosary and visitation will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mount Angel at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 13. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Mount Angel.
