Patricia "Pat"
Buchheit
Mar 14, 1934 — Jul 14, 2023
Mount Angel
On Friday, July 14, 2023, we lost one of the most loving, comforting, supportive, strong women our world has known. Surrounded by her family, Pat Buchheit of Mt. Angel, OR, peacefully went to reunite with John, her beloved husband, in Heaven. She was 89 years old.
Pat was born to Luverne Anderson and Teresa Tritschler on March 14, 1934, in Minneapolis, MN, where she spent her growing-up years through the age of 9. During WWII in 1943, her family had to move to Vancouver, WA, in support of the war effort. Finally, they settled in Mt. Angel, in 1946, opening the theater in which she helped her family run. She went to high school and college at the Benedictine Convent in Mt. Angel. She, then, finished up her teaching degree at Oregon College of Education in Monmouth.
Pat started teaching in the area, during which time she met John Buchheit, marrying him on July 9, 1961, in Hillsboro in 101° heat. They settled down and started raising their family in Mt. Angel. Her teaching career spanned 40+ years, the last 39 years of which were spent teaching 5th grade in Mt. Angel at St. Mary's Elementary School and Mt. Angel Middle School, finally retiring in 1996. In retirement, she loved being at home, baking, gardening, daytime TV, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter Johna (Mark) Overfield of Woodburn, her daughter Patti Madderom of Mt. Angel, and her son Scott (Amy) Buchheit of Silverton; her grandchildren Jami Madderom, Christopher Overfield, James Skay, Nicholle Zollman, Chase Zollman, Derek Buchheit, Teya Buchheit, Grant Buchheit, and Reegan Buchheit; great-grandchildren Garrett, Lila, and Sterling Zollman; sisters Aileen Vaughn and Jan Fessler; brother Jim Anderson. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Al Anderson, and son-in-law Rich Madderom.
The rosary service will be Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Mt. Angel, followed by the funeral service on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, also. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor to St. Mary's Church, Traditions Hospice, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
