Peter Anthony Shafer, born February 5, 1968, in Gallup New Mexico, passed away on May 1, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of his family. He was the fifth child born to Jerry and Barbara Shafer. In September 1971, Peter's family moved to Oregon, and on Mother's Day in 1972 they settled in Mount Angel, the community he would always call home. He attended John F. Kennedy High School and later worked at Pastime Campers. He treasured his time spent with relatives in Southern California. Peter found joy in simple and meaningful pursuits. He loved fishing and woodworking, hobbies that reflected his patience, creativity, and appreciation for quiet moments. Those who knew him will remember his gentle spirit, kind heart, and steady presence.

He is survived by his mother, his children, grandchildren, and siblings, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and deeply miss him. Peter's gentle nature and love for family will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church, 575 E. College St., Mt. Angel, Oregon 97362 on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 11am. Burial to take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 1015 N. Main St., Mt. Angel, Oregon 97362.
