Phil, as he was known, was born in Glen Ullin, North Dakota on December 12, 1931.

He was an US Army veteran, a Mt. Angel Volunteer Firefighter, and worked as a Mt. Angel Police Officer.

He worked 38 years with the Mt. Angel Public Works Department before retiring in 1994.

He married Katherine Meissner in 1965, and they raised their family in Mt. Angel.

He is survived by his wife Katherine, daughters Shelly, Cheri, Karen; son Keith; son-in-law Jeff; daughter-in-law Stacy; and his grandchildren Hannah and Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his son Douglas.

Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:30 am and Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday 11:00 am August the 31st at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Angel.

Rite of Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Angel. Luncheon at the parish house to follow the graveside services.
